Welcome to Junior Jardineros! As an all-inclusive multi-cultural gardening experience for kids, the Program hopes to inspire a new generation, connected to our food system 🔄 and our world. 🌎
Started as collaboration between Stanford design students💡 and CA non-profit Valley Verde 🥬, Junior Jardineros was born out of the desire to gift the magic of gardening to as many people as possible. With the socio-cultural educational power inherent to learning to grow your own food, we wanted to bring kids to the front of this process.
Our learning library is developed in partnership with Valley Verde, a champion of agricultural advocacy with many years of knowledge and practice of organic gardening. As well as, in partnership with kids and educational professionals. Our program is kid tested, approved, and loved 💗!
Our educational content covers more than just organic gardening practices, but on our food system 🔄, food justice ✊, and sustainability 🌎. Realizing the power of plants comes with understanding their context in our world 🗺️!
But what makes our program truly special is our focus on growing multi-cultural seeds 🇬🇹🌱. Valley Verde is one of the only suppliers in the Bay Area with the in-depth knowledge of how to grow organically in the California climate. These seeds are not just your average tomato plant you’d find at home depot, but seeds native to Indian, Vietnamese, Mexican, native, and Filipino agricultural traditions such as okra, holy basil, epazote, bitter melon, and a hundred other varieties.
