Why is Light Important?

🌤️Plants capture light energy and use this energy to create the food they need to grow. 🌾This process where plants create their own food is called photosynthesis.

🌳Without light, plants starve and die. All life on earth depends upon plants’ ability to photosynthesize! 🌎

<aside> ❓ Is you plant getting enough light? 🌞Make sure your seeds are in the sun for at least 6 to 8 hours per day outdoors or 14 to 16 hours indoors with lightbulbs.

• [ ] Activity: ADVENTURE TIME! Go on a scavenger hunt to find plants around your house 🏠 or your neighborhood that are already fully grown. Do you notice anything about the direction the plants are growing? Most plants tend to grow and turn towards the light! This is called phototropism. Phototropism is caused by a chemical inside of the plant to help it grow better!
