2. Your Field Journal 📗

How can you tell how your food is grown?

❓ 🧐 Detective time! Grab (or ask a family member to help) a fruit or vegetable from your kitchen with a sticker on it (apples or oranges are most likely to have them)! Do you know how this food was grown? Is it organic, genetically modified, or was it sprayed with pesticides?

Lets find out how our food is grown!

👀 Take a look at the little sticker on your fruit or vegetable. That number is going to give us important information that will tell us about how it was grown!

Take a look at the first number on your sticker… What number is it?

4️⃣ If it is a 4 and it is four digits long (meaning that it is four-numbers long)… then we know that the food was sprayed with pesticides while it was being grown!

8️⃣ If it is an 8 and it is five digits long … then we know the food is genetically modified.
